The tasks and applications of machine vision are becoming increasingly complex in connection with the automation of production tools, so that conventional 2D image processing tools are no longer sufficient in many cases. We have therefore been involved in 3D image processing for many years and have already successfully realised many projects.
We are happy to utilise the advanced high-end 3D image processing components of our system partner Keyence Deutschland GmbH, but as a licensed solution partner of Balluff GmbH we also have their intelligent cameras and embedded components in our portfolio. Typical applications in which a 3D process is used include checking height information, checking rivet seals, quality control of soldered joints or distance testing. Robots that precisely grip and place products and goods also utilise 3D technology.
The term “bin picking” is often used in connection with 3D image processing. This describes the automated removal of products from a container for feeding into machine tools or for depositing in boxes and racks. These pick-and-place applications are realised exclusively with 3D sensors.
